A is for Action

Come on a journey with two friends who see a problem in their community and find a solution in order to make the world a better place.
This A-Z guide provides learning experiences that help children gain the skills and knowledge to take meaningful action. But wait... there’s more!

This book includes reproducible extension activities and active links to free online resources such as: curriculum documents, videos, eBooks, as well as access to a community of student change agents. These resources enable teachers and parents to implement a comprehensive program that further explore taking action.

The book is available early May 2013.

Action phase document

Every teacher wants their students to take action that makes a difference to and in the world. This document was created because the authors believe that the concept of action is more a state of mind than a product. Action can only make a resonating difference to and in the world when it is developed in tandem with a toolbox of explicitly taught skills, modelled behaviours, scaffolded plans and a gradual release of responsibility.

This document contains a service-learning curriculum framework, which includes: strands, sub-strands, phases and online resources that complement the skills focused on at each stage of the learning journey towards sustained action.
